Taste of Norwegian cider
Merete Bø takes you on a flavourful journey through Norwegian cider history!
Discover the best cider varieties and the passion behind real Norwegian cider.
In the 18th century, European garden culture began to make its presence felt in Norway, and fruit trees and berry bushes became more common in Norwegian gardens. Today, real Norwegian cider is a quality product, produced by almost 50 farm producers throughout southern Norway. In Hardanger, a separate quality standard for cider was established under the geographically protected designation ‘Sider frå Hardanger’, which has inspired cider producers in other regions.
Merete Bø, an acclaimed Norwegian wine journalist, podcast host and non-fiction writer, will guide us through some of the best cider varieties on the market. With her incredible knowledge, she will take us on a deep dive into Norwegian cider history. Bø has been employed as a wine journalist at Dagens Næringsliv since 2007, and has a passion for wine culture that she wants to pass on to others. She sees it as her social mission to inform Norwegians and form a more sophisticated relationship with alcohol in society.
