Ooze
Experience the snails' spectacular mating ritual in this sensuous dance performance by STICKY Productions
OOZE, a sensual dance performance that explores the intimate and spectacular mating rituals of snails. Created by four queer women, the snails act as a slimy metaphor for queerness.
With four dancers and a musician on stage, you are invited to experience a tactile landscape where dancers move around, by and behind you. They show you that even in the seemingly slow world of a snail, magical and fast-paced wonders can happen.
Throughout history, homosexuality and sexual variation in animals have been labelled as ‘crimes against nature’ and omitted from scientific discourse due to prevailing attitudes towards homosexuality in humans. However, same-sex sexual behaviour has been documented among various animal species since the 18th century, including birds, reptiles, mammals and molluscs. OOZE sheds light on the fact that this diversity has always been and will always be an essential part of nature's amazing mosaic.
STICKY Productions
STICKY Productions (Edginton/Lothe/Olsen/Parsons) is a dance collective of queer female dance artists based in Oslo. Their practice immerses itself in the corporeal and the sensitive, the playful and the strange. The four artists studied contemporary dance together at Laban in London, and share a common drive to embody and perform environmentally conscious performances that centre around new or untold narratives. In the period 2020-22, STICKY created their first work, Økohelter, which has been performed at Dansens Hus, DKS and Dansenett Norge in spring 2024.
They have been selected for the international programme ‘International Touring and Environmental Responsibility’, a collaboration between Norway, Denmark and the UK, and have received a performer's grant from FFUK for their artistic work.
