Elefanten i rommet
Theatre performance for children with Sandvika Children and Youth Theatre.
Lille Scene
Sandvika barne- og ungdomsteater
It's a costume birthday party, and everyone is supposed to dress up: The girls are to be princesses, and the boys are to be superheroes. The doorbell rings. The birthday child opens it, but in front of her stands one of the guests dressed as an elephant.
"The Elephant in the Room" is about finding one's place in a larger community, the experience of not fitting in, and the lack of acceptance for being different. Because, in reality, it's challenging to be an elephant when everyone else is a princess or a superhero.
Sandvika Children and Youth Theatre invest heavily in producing newly written performances with newly composed music. For their younger audience, they have had success with "The Princess Who Couldn't Climb Trees," "Everything I Make Up Is True," "Hansel and Gretel," and "The Invisible Boy."
