Anna Tsybuleva has been described by Gramophone Magazine as a performer who masters ‘excellent piano playing and intelligent musicality’. Tsybuleva came to world prominence in 2015 when she was crowned first prize winner of the Leeds International Piano Competition. She received widespread critical acclaim for her winning performance, described as ‘A pianist of rare talent: not since Murray Perahia's triumph in 1972 has Leeds had a winner of this musical calm and quality’ (International Piano Magazine).

Tsybuleva's playing is characterised by sensitivity and nuance, allowing her to convey a wide range of emotions through the piano. She has a remarkable ability to emphasise the subtleties of each composition she performs, whether it is the intensity of a dramatic piece or the delicacy of a lyrical work. Her repertoire spans a variety of styles, showcasing her versatility and mastery of the instrument.

From the Caucasus to Wigmore Hall

Born in 1990, Tsybuleva grew up in the mountainous region of Nizhny Arkhyz in the Caucasus. Perhaps her upbringing has helped to mould the performer who, in the concert hall, possesses a captivating intimacy. Tsybuleva manages to draw the listener into a private sphere of intensely focussed musical expression, even in the very largest concert halls.

Over the past decade, Tsybuleva has triumphed with her solo recitals on many of the greatest international stages, including Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam, KKL Luzern, Palais des Beaux-Arts, Philharmonie Luxembourg, Shanghai Oriental Arts Centre, Tonhalle Zürich and Wigmore Hall. As a soloist with orchestra, she has had high-profile engagements with Dortmunder Philharmoniker, hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie, Orquesta Extremadura and Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, among others.

She has also had the honour of working with such renowned conductors as Alain Altinoglu, Sir Mark Elder, Jonathon Heyward, Michal Nesterowicz, Yuri Temirkanov, Krzysztof Urbanski and Duncan Ward to name but a few.
